“2009” WASHINGTON DISTRICT MISSION STATEMENT AND OBJECTIVES

Mission Statement

The mission of the Washington District of the North Carolina Conference is to train her members in the knowledge of our God and the knowledge of the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church. This knowledge will lead us in living faithfully and serving our God obediently.

Goals

1.                  Beginning with the "Spiritual Emphasis Week" teaching on giving to look at Stewardship as a way of life.

2.                  District WH&OMS will work with and train local church missionaries

3.                  District Lay Council will work with the local church Lay Councils to teach the meaning purpose and goals of the Lay Council.

4.                  District Christian educators will work with local Christian educators to create effective Sunday Schools and other training components.

5.                  District Evangelism members will teach local churches how to evangelize.

6.                  Presiding Elder will create a "stewardship team" to train local churches in Stewardship.

Objectives

1.                  Create a relationship between district and local church officers.

2.                  Empower local churches for ministry.

3.                  Empower local churches for intentional growth spiritually.

4.                  Empower local churches for growth numerically.

5.                  Strengthen stewardship in the local church.

6.            Teach principles and structure of the AME Zion Church.
