About Our Church

We are a body of believers committed to worshipping and serving Jesus Christ. As a Zion Church, we join with likeminded Christians in spreading the gospel around the world.

Christ reached out to people of all ages and backgrounds and at our church we desire to do the same. We have a place for everyone to study the Scriptures, fellowship together, and minister to others through numerous service opportunities.

We want you to be a part of the blessings of God in the life of our church. We will bring you updates often on just what is happening at our church and share the stories of how Christ is making a difference in the lives of people.

We are in the North Carolina Conference of the Eastern North Carolina Episcopal District African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church.  Presently our Presiding Prelate is The Bishop Richard Keith Thompson.

Our Presidng Elder is Dr. Avery C. Brown of the Washington District.

AFFIRMATION OF FAITH

Affirmation of Faith Through The Apostles' Creed

I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ His only son, our Lord. Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, Born of the Virgin Mary, Suffered under Pontius Pilate; Was crucified dead and buried; The third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, And sitteth on the right hand of God, the Father Almighty; from thence, He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the Communion of Saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; And life everlasting. ~AMEN~

Church History

Church History

The people of the Vance Community purposed in their hearts to build a place of worship in the Zion realm. They prayed and God answered. In the year of our Lord Eighteen Hundred and Ninety Eight, God touched the hearts of the late Mr. Ben & Jenny Wayne. These soldiers of Christ were inspired by God to give the land that now is landscaped by a beautiful edifice on a corner lot of Rouse Road Exit and Dobbs Farms Road. This structure was built in Eighteen Hundred and Ninety Eight under the leadership of the late Rev. T. D. Harrison and was so named in honor of the donors.

Since the inception, under the auspices of the A.M.E. (African Methodist Episcopal) Zion Church, many pastors have come and left legacies. History documents that Wayne Chapel is one hundred and six years old and great progress has been made. When the church was built, it was structured much like today, however, without some of the conveniences that we have today.

As we reflect upon the progress of the church, God has wonderfully able us to move forward in making great accomplishments.

God has wonderfully blessed Wayne Chapel in an abundant manner. Indicative of His Word from 2 Chronicles 7:14, which states:

"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."

Wayne Chapel has served as an outreach to many in the community and continues to do so by lifting up the name of Jesus through worship, fellowship and growth.

Presently, God has blessed up to be under the leadership of Reverend Triva S. Mason. As God wills it, we will do a greater work in the service of Christ remembering Paul's words from Philippians 4:17, which states: "I can do all things through Christ, which strengthens me."

Wayne Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church is on the move for Christ! !
